Returning in 2023 we find a broken, physically and emotionally destroyed Patricia, trying to pick the pieces up of her life. Battling bipolar, crippling back pain and an addiction to pain killers, can the community she started to create help her bounce back?

The team around her rally. Can the fire she lit in them and the community her passion engendered be the force of change Patricia needs to fight back and get her own life back on track?

‘Nomadland’ meets ‘All that breathes’ meets ‘Honeyland’ and ‘The Biggest Little Farm’, this feature-length documentary shows the stunning scenery, beautifully captured on ground and with drones, as Patricia struggles to grow enough food to supply the local community and resistance that she‘s selling the most dangerous thing: hope.

THE FILM

The journey is underway, but the outcome is far from certain.

WHY NOW?

Patricia’s personal struggles mirror the way we have treated our food system. Once thriving now destroyed can we as a world develop a renewed relationship to food production.

Patricia’s mission to rebuild the Lakota food system and create food sovereignty chimes irresistibly with millennials who believe that sustainable food is key to protecting the future of our planet. And they want to be part of it.

With summers heating up and ice caps melting fast, Patricia’s pioneering project is a blueprint we may all have to follow soon. Rebel Earth could be a bellwether not only for the future of Patricia and the Lakota nation, but the future for humanity as a whole.
